Good day and welcome to the latest episode of LawBARD’s 5 Things. Today we are discussing five activities that you should do prior to the end of the year to ensure that you start 2025 off successfully. We are less than 60 days from 2025, and the holidays will quickly be upon us, so we advise that you take time now to review and strategize for your 2025 marketing plan to ensure that you get off to a strong start.

Below are five things you should consider:

  • Review and Analyze Past Performance
  • Set Goals and Budget for the Next Year
  • Refresh Your Content Strategy
  • Strengthen Your Online Presence
  • Network and Build Relationships

First, you should review and analyze past performance. Simply put, “what worked and what didn’t?” Look at website traffic, lead sources, case types and case acceptance rates by lead source. What were the ROIs from different marketing initiatives? Identify your most successful campaigns and determine why they performed well. Similarly, analyze under performing campaigns to understand areas for improvement. Also,

Website analytics: Use tools like Google Analytics to understand user behavior on your website. Which pages are most popular? Where are visitors dropping off? This data should help drive website improvements and content strategy.

Client feedback: Gather feedback from existing clients through surveys or direct outreach. Understand their perspectives on your services, communication, and overall experience. Fundamentally, are your past clients happy with the services that you have provided?

Second, set goals and budget for the next year. Remember to set SMART Goals – Your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals. For example, “Increase website leads by 20% by Q3 of next year” or “Achieve a 5-star rating on Google My Business by year-end” are SMART goals. “Improve Marketing Performance” is not a SMART goal.

Allocate budget strategically. Identify how much you initially plan on spending in the new year based on previous years spend, performance, growth goals, etc. Based on your performance analysis, decide how to allocate your marketing budget. Prioritize the channels and strategies that have proven most effective. Are there new tools or platforms that you want to invest in? Should you do more in Digital Content Creation? Referral Networking? AI Tools?

Third, review and refresh your content strategy. Update website content and ensure your website content is current, relevant, and optimized for search engines. Add new blog posts, articles, or case studies that demonstrate your expertise and address client needs.

Develop a content calendar and map out your content for the next quarter or even the entire year. This ensures consistent publishing and helps you align your content with key events or seasonal trends.
Focus on creating high-quality content that educates, informs, and engages your target audience. This could include blog posts, articles, ebooks, webinars, or videos.

Fourth, strengthen your online presence. Continue to optimize your website for SEO and improve your website’s performance by optimizing its content, structure, and technical elements. Conduct keyword research to identify relevant search terms and incorporate them naturally into your website copy.
Enhance your social media presence. Share engaging content, interact with your followers, and run targeted ad campaigns to reach new potential clients.

Manage your online reputation. Monitor online reviews and testimonials. Respond promptly to any negative feedback and address concerns effectively. Encourage satisfied clients to leave positive reviews on platforms like Google Business Profile.

Lastly, renew your emphasis on networking and continue to build relationships. This hasn’t changed as most firms get a significant amount of business from past clients or law firm referrals. Plan on which industry, community, and BAR events you want to attend in the new year. Get involved in your community and continue to strengthen relationships with your referrers and past clients. Continue to work on identifying your firm’s differentiators. Lastly, update your contact list.

By taking these steps before the end of the year, law firms can set themselves up for a successful and productive year ahead.
